For export you may use Cobalt formatters plugins.

http://www.mintjoomla.com/downloads/category-items/4-downloads/32-formatters.html

And we are still working on import.

So the export in Resources can be working with the import in Cobalt, you sey?

Can you give a clear answere:

Will there ever be possible with a export from Resources, and import of that data into Cobalt, without very much migration job with editing files etc before import?

Here is the official answer.

  1. We already have export into XML, JSON, INI

  2. By the stable Cobalt 8 we will have import from CSV

Unfortunately we will not be able to serve dedicated Recourses->Cobalt migrator. You will be able to migrate only through exporting Resources articles into CSV. Perhaps we will create tool for Resources to migrate any section into CSV.

But there is still problem. The data stored in Resources completely differently. It is very hard if not to say imposible to migrate all the data without lose. not all fields will be possible to migrate. For example gallery field will be hard one. And geo field too.

Why? I have to mention again that although Cobalt inherit all functionality of Resources and even more, and even DB structure looks almost the same it is completely new extension. All PHP code was written from scratch. Migrate from Resources to Cobalt is like migrate to SOBI or ZOO.

Is it possible to give any support in the way of money to get a working migration between Resources to Cobalt 8?

We understand the need of this import and it is already first priority. I mean we are so seriously working on it that no money can make it more serious.

So there is no contribution that can speed up this process. Especially from you my friend! After your Ultimate subscription, you have paid it all!

Really looking forward to it... or better "longing" for it.

I understand the different storage problem in Resources, especially the advanced fields, which might store multi-values and different parameters.

I totally agree with "Petter Konrad". Its o.k. if the major data is kept and transferred. Basic fields and text type data. Maybe also the basic structure and type.

Since there is a long time until Joomla3.5 LTS... my number one wish is also a C7 import feature. Please, consider this as an interim bridge for ME Resources Users and people who trust on J2.5 LTS. There are a lot of reasons to stay or work with J25. And later update to J3 and C8/9.

Hi Sergey,

I'm sorry, but after reading the thread I must have missed the answer.

I wanted to know: Does the current version of Cobalt (the one that is published) support CSV import? If so, where can I find that tool?

Thanks,

Matias

Sorry, but I've just found the answer:

By Sergey Romanov Yesterday

I will create description of CSV format required to make import when we release Cobalt with Import..

Really looking forward to having this real soon, since I'm depending on this feature to launch a client's project!!!

Thanks in advance!

Matias

I have the same problem, even worse, my hostingprovider forces me to upgrade joomla 1.5 to a newer version in a month, otherwise they block the website because of the many joomla 1.5 websites beeing hacked lately....

Yes, it is an option, but what if the new hoster suddenly decides to do the same??

Besides CSV import, some special shortcuts for Joomla CORE Content, K2, and ZOO would drag many users to Cobalt! Extremely crucial, IMHO.

Hi guys!

I've just noticed that this thread keeps receiving more and more votes and right now ranks #2...

I'd really like to see Cobalt importing at least raw CSV, so I come back again with the same question: Has this feature been planed in any of future releases?

Best,

Matias

Matias,

please see Sergey's comment in this topic

Based on this, you can expect it to be delivered with Cobalt 8.

A gentle heads-up for the already discussed "J! core article" and "cck's" import...

IMHO, a very cool feature and promotion would be to import (convert and migrate) other content:

  • J! core articles
  • K2
  • ZOO
  • Seblod
  • etc.

BTW, what about import in C7? I guess, DB and fields are not the problem... maybe the frontend interface or missing scripts? I would accept a bootstrap requirement! ;-)
