There is parameter "Allow multiple parents" in child field.

"Multiple" selection with different template styles are possible on submission form only
On article and list-views, there is "Attach existing". And this action allows to select 1 item only. So, Clowride is right, there is no multiple selection during the frontend relation process.

Would be nice to have the same styles as seen on form,

or at least the popup variant with multiple selection.
