Hello, as far as my latest C8 test installation is concerned, the Text field's default value parameter does not work. After creating a new field the input shows a 0 (zero)? However, I can enter my own default value text. But in frontend the default value does not show-up. The field always stays empty. This happens on first submission, and all future edits.

Is it the same for article you create or for those you edit after field added?

pepperstreet This happens on first submission, and all future edits.

I think I have tested every possibility. New records, and editing/re-saving records. Or did you mean something different?

I cannot confirm it. I can see this text in the field.

Thanks for checking. Maybe an issue on that specific J! installation... I am going to try another one.

Display and Save works now! I have tested another Joomla installation ;)

However, I still have that 0 (zero) in the backend?
It appears in new fields, or if I remove my default value and save it.

BTW, I would recommend to add a translatable placeholder parameter, too.
Nowadays I consider it as a standard for all text inputs.

Most probably it is still old record.
