Hello, recently I thought about integration with other extensions. For image based modules and scripts, I think a common folder for images would be the simplest way. That lead me to the idea, to utilize uploads/image/picture fields.
Since Gallery-field already display its items via templates... the usage is already pre-defined. Maybe Image-field comes close, it already comes with resizing... but it is limited to a single file. **Therefore I focus on the uploads-field in this topic. **
(Please, correct me if I am totally wrong with my conclusions ;-) )
**Idea:
**Many Joomla Image-Sliders or standalone Scripts deal with image folders. Why not upload in those folders?! The current issue or a kind of restriction is the secure uploads folder configuration. It offers just 3 different (fixed) options:
Suggestions:
set independent BASE folder, allows to target specific 3rd-Party folders. Not located in global uploads
set naming scheme on files... so files are sequentially numbered or they will get a specific filename, that another Script might need
- Global uploads folder (Uploads field?)
Dynamic foldernames like paths in JCE Editor i.e.:
Could also have $category $type $article as name or ID#
An option to set NO specific subfolder. Just the root. (allows to set the target folder in field parameters)
**Why?
**I guess, this could be a much simpler approach than special Gallery-field or Article templates. I mean, an alternative.
