What does happen with our mightyextensions licenses?

My concrete case, I spent 149€ for Suite (5) Advanced Touch

Please follow update log: Release&Updates log We release a lot of versions of Mighty Resources and Mighty Touch. Your license still works. Therefore you can use it on unlimited number of domains. As you know Mighty Extensions are GPL now.

Update for the Joomla 1.7 cant be provided due to the changes in the Joomla. Unfortunately the structure of Joomla was changed so much that we have to change the component too. Tables in database was changed too that is why migration of the data cant be provided too.

I absolutelly understand your concern. I know that it may looks unfair. But please, try to understand what happened.

Joomla has changed its structure since 1.6 so much that we had to refator 95% of code to make it Joomla 1.6-2.5 native. Actually Cobalt is completely new extensions with inherit only idea of Resources. If we just could update Resources so it works on Joomla 1.6-2.5 we would provide update for free. But it is not update. It is new extension. We even do not have yet tool to migrate data.

I hate disapoint our customers, but this is how it is. I do not feel comfortable telling you all this. But in sftware world sometimes it happens. For example Microsoft sell you Office 2007 with lifetime license. But you know you will not get Office 2010 for free. But you can continue use 2007 lifetime. Or Adobe products or Camtasia, or may other.

Of course we are not anything like Microsoft or Adobe, even no comparision, but our license price is also not comparable. And amount of sales a week.

I am very sorry that you have to purchase again. All I can is to offer you, is a 50% discount coupon, which I'll post in private comment bellow. Will that make you pleased?

Thanks for the coupon, but I think I may pass the offer, I can't rely on software that enforces me to use old versions of it, your extensions lapsed development of a project for a year, joomla 1.6 was published in 2011-01-10 and you haven't supplied versions for it until now.

True, j1.5 will not be deprecated until 2012-04-10, but the point is I can be happy with these conditions on "free" software, or donationware, but not on a paid product.

The compartion with software as Office is demagogy, not the same kind of software, nor case (also, they don't sell lifetime upgrades for their software, and I use libreoffice ;)), furthermore, you have awesome software who advertizes as you, but really does it (moving between "big" updates) either joomla (frontpage slideshow, simple image gallery pro,...) and "offline" (flashfxp, daemon tools, alcohol 120%, artmoney pro,...)

When I buy Office I know I'm ****uying that version of the software (although I can buy "updates"), they advertize it that way, they are selling "Office 2007", not "office" you advertize: Unlimited updates for purchased extensions including advanced templates, plugins, filters for according subscription. Then you create new site and ew extension (although you keep repeating is same thing: "Cobalt is a 7th generation of Joomla CCK formerly known as JoomSuite Content and then Mighty Resources.") you're rebranding the software and making me pay again for it, and I'm not up to.

I won't spend that much (it's a lot for me, more counting my sites are hobby and don't produce income) money on products that will drop out when next version appears, I don't have a pro****lem keeping paying for updates (price is not the same either)

On a nutshell, I feel ripped o****viously, seems to me you're creating a new site ****ecause ****esides how powerful resources (athough slow), touch, etc. are, the fact you failed to jump on the 1.6 wagon for over a year, makes customers unhappy, and you're taking the chance to refund.

On a side note, Ekaterina, you say "Tables in database was changed too that is why migration of the data can`t be provided too"... well, database migration is not a really big issue... I can do it from IPB to phpbb to kunena and back... can't be that hard from Resources to cobalt... more counting in cobalt ifo it states: "8th generation road map - Migration from Mighty Resources."

Thanks for the coupon though, but as said I'm not gonna use it, I'm happy you want your customers (aka me) feel happy, but I can but feel you're buying my silence (and not even for the full product ;) NOTE: A private coupon for the full product won't make it either, I can't put my trust on your company seeing how you manage licenses)

That said, thanks for your interest, hope you the best of lucks, you build an awesome component inresources, it was the base for a really big big project, that will never see light now (not with resources empowering it at least). Hope sometime you reconsider your business practice.

No way I did it for that. In other case I would delete this topic, or send coupon offer in private comment. I did it because I can understand what you feel. And I wanted to make you little bit more happy or less disappointed at least.

I also bought Mighty Extensions Products, and I would only like to say that I agree in some facts, like, you are selling an idea, the idea becomes a product, so the product is ****asically the same, just see jreviews, it's mostly the same, ****ut they sell the same product for as many joomla versions as there are, and that this component is great, I really like it.

I'm now considering a lot to ****uy your products, ****ecause i do not know if in the next change of version you are going to re-****uild another product, and we would have to ****uy another product from you, since it's ****asically the same idea, if you could advertise that these changes are going to cost, but you are going to continue satisfying your clients, using the same name, you would be with a lot more of happy and secure clients.

I would love to be secure knowing that if I buy a licence, I would be able to use your software as long as it lasts, not until another version of Joomla comes out.

I want to ensure you that since Joomla have well described plans of Joomla releases, we confirm that you will be able update freely till LTS Joomla 3.5. And it is another 3 years ahead.

When i've upgraded from XP to Win 7 i didn't loose any data. I'm converted from Outlook to Thunderbird with all data migrated. I've a new Photoshop Version and work with all my files i've created with my older Versions.

So i think keeping my done work is the most important for everyone. If i could not keep my data and have to do all the work from the beginning, i could make a new start with other products. So why i should pay much money for Cobalt?

You can purchase subscription form just 99. And ZOO costs absolutely the same as Cobalt. If you want lifetime subscription. And also 6 month - 99 and 1 year 159.

And also note you cannot do absolutely the same with ZOO as with Cobalt. Unfortunately ZOO will not allow you to make what yo u can make with Cobalt.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm a Resources customer and i'm willing to pay for Cobalt. But it should be possible to upgrade from Resources to Cobalt without loosing my data. If i have to make all the work again, i could also use free components instead. And what i like to do, i can do it with free components. I know it is not the same like i could do with Cobalt, that's the reason i'd love to go with Cobalt. But i have to think about it if it's really worth in my case. ;-)

I see. But Cobalt is also free. Paid version is only with additional fields. And you cannot get more in any other extension for free than you get in free Cobalt version. :)

May be because I did not receive anything. Besides I do not check spam folder as i get hundreds of spam emails a day. Just clean that folder from time to time :)
