Multiple level select field

How to keep constructor data when saving as copy.

When a person chooses an option from the constructor data how to make this searchable?

Hmm, I am not sure but I think you missed ADD button.

When you select anything it is not saved unless you click add button. If it is just like this

Value wil not be saved. It have to be like this

or like this

If I Have like country > Asia > Malaysia > KL then person saves malaysia or KL

Cobalt saves every value. It mean if user selected only Asia > Malaysia then only this 2 elements saved. If user select Asia > Malaysia > KL then this 3 elements saved.

If I Have like country > Asia > Malaysia > KL then person saves malaysia or KL

When creating the field I checked Searchable Yes but its not showing,

It is not very practical to use fulltext search int his case. For example you have this type and user selected Asia > Malaysia > KL but in description (which is also searchable) he mentioned Thailand as comparison. now when some one lok for Thailand he gets Asia > Malaysia > KL in result with is wrong.

This is why this field is a filter. You can enable filter and make it linkable. Then every value in Asia > Malaysia > KL will turn into link. And if user click on Asia he gets all records in Asia is on Malaysia he gets all records in malaysia.

Steven,

it might be worth to look into the geo field for your setup. It provides a filter, starting with Country...

And you might have even the benefit of using Google maps (also the list template) with your records.

Hi sack,

yes I looked at the geo field but it requires people to type in there address and this is a problem for me. Yes it would be the perfect tool if it used drop down menu's for people to choose there location at least down to the town/city level or preferably down to there specific local area or suburb as we call it here in Australia. I would definately use it then. Is it possible to modify it to be like this. I am building a low cost international travel accomodation type website so there are two main groops those looking and those offering but due to the international nature its not good to let people put in there own variable spellings for places or you end up with 10 or 20 different spelling of the same place and thats not good.
