Hi to all Cobalt Subscribers,

Based on some latest conversation with Cobalt development team, it has been noticed that, due to the speed of new Joomla version availability, the Cobalt development team, headed by Sergey, do not have real time to concentrate on both development, bug correction, forum support etc.

Hence, we have came to the conclusion that it will help very much to have a testing environment where new Joomla version will be updated as well as latest stable version of Cobalt so that, we, as subscribers, can participate to the testing environment and report any bug or compatibility issue that we might came across.

We invite all subscribers who will be interested to participate and be part of this testing team to reply and follow this topic so that we can all be informed about latest news regarding this idea, all opinions and suggestions are also welcome.

Thanks,

Tomy

Need to go through it deeper to see if there is any bug but so far it seems OK.

Hi golfads,

I just had a look at your site.

The thumbnails look very blurry because they are upscaled from 100px × 100px to 265px × 265px Is there a reason why you didn't set the thumbnail size to 265px × 265px?

Interesting to see how you deal with the property prices. From a buyer's point of view it would be more interesting to see and select price ranges, however I understand your choice because of the number count next to the prices.

Best regards, Jeff

Sergey

golfads Sorry, latest version is 3.3, is it secure to update to Joomla 3.3?

I do not think so. not even tested. I expect it not to work as it is.

I thought "early testing" was the basic idea and the whole purpose of this topic?!

  • The "RC" should be installed and tested on the demo page, as soon as it is available, IMHO.
  • at least on a parallel / 2nd demo site

I second that.

I'm running J3.3, Cobalt and Emerald on a staging dev site and it's updated automatically to the latest stable Joomla release. Luckily reverting to a state prior to the update is just one click away, so no harm done. I must say, I'm happy with J3.3. Less Javascript, faster page loads among things...

A 2nd demo site with RC's enables us to detect and fix errors early. No more cold feet when updating your Cobalt/Emerald site ;-)

Yes, in fact, this was the main reason that I created this topic, I understand that Sergey might not had time to do it but it is very important to have a testing environment before the official launching of stable version, so far, at my end, I have been working only on websites that are still under development and not live, when they will be live, it will be very troublesome to update stuffs and get back with bugs and errors on live sites!

Have you ever tried to activate akeeba backup restore points feature? That would be a way to quickly revert back to the old cobalt version if the update cause problems... but I never tested.
