copy type to another section

i want to make a copy of a type that is on section1 to section2 and then change only a few fields.

Is this possible? even if i have to do it threw phpadmin.

Yes it is possible. Copy row in js_res_types. You will have to copy all the fields in js_res_fields and then change type_id in new fields to new one.
