I've read you can limit the purchase of subscribers to a subscription plan but is there a way to limit the amount of money?

I'm thinking of using Emerald for sponsorships/donations. So for example every month there is a need for 100 Euro (to sponsor a player in a sports club or an animal in a shelter). It could be 10 people buying for 10 Euro or 9 for 10 Euro and 2 for 5 Euro and so on. I don't care how many people buy a subscription and how much they pay for it. I just need to limit it to the 100 Euro per month (and show how much of the 100 Euro is still needed if the amount of money is not yet reached).

Is there a way to do it or will there be in Emerald 9?

Official Answer

That is not possible with Emerald 8.

I think your problem is easy to solve with small hack. Only 5 lines of code on the plans choice page.

It is even possible to do in in template overrides.

Thank you for you answer.

Maybe you could implement it in a future version because this feature would expand the usability of Emerald very much. I think it's not found in other joomla extensions regarding subscriptions (only special donation/charity extensions which are not very good at the moment) and with the deep Cobalt integration it would be certainly pretty powerful.
