It's me again. I need only some registered users to be able to view records and only some OTHER registered users to be able to add new ones.

Could you please explain how I can do that?

(To explain why so: I cannot have Registered users view, and Special modify. This is because Special users are set to be able to modify entries and add categories instead of having a default one etc which is too much of a permission right to give to people who are supposed to only add entries. Also, I cannot have Public users view all the records.

What I am looking for is adding a new type of role, between Registered and Special, that would also be able to submit new entries, but not get any of the Special except that).

THANKS!

You know that you can create new user groups now.

Create as many as you want. Now in the content type set who can post and who can view

Now articles will be created with access level you need.

But do not forget to add some users to grops that will be in this access level.

There is another way to do it. If you just want to give it few users you may keep view access special and just create moderators with Access Restricted rights. In this case user will be still registered but able to see special articles.

I tried to do that, now I get the following error on the submission form for those with access:

"Field required: Title"

And the following error for those with view access but not submit access:

"You have not permissions to view this page"

Is it something obvious I'm missing?

I have got some problems on your page. I do not see submit link under user you gave me. But any way. Your reg_tech user is an autor. This is simply Special. You could use registered and special. What I mean what you did at least it is the same.

I have another question. Do you want to make system where users see only articles submitted for them or any articles?

Where is the submission link on the site?

Hi there,

I'm beginning to understand. Unfortunately I don't want to have all those buttons on the bottom of the submission form (Apply Save Save New Save as Copy Close) and in the submission template I can't select Show to No One)

Your user is Super Admin so they should see everything. Still getting "Field required: Title" as an error - I think I might have commented out that part from the template entirely as I don't want there to be a title. Can Cobalt select a title automatically or not request one?

Go to your type settings and click on the small gear icon beside the submission form template. You will see a section "Show Buttons" with a dropdown "Button Position". Here you can select where the buttons will be displayed

Yes, go to your TYPE parameters and select under "Article Title" --> "Record Title Mode" = "No Title"

OK I fixed that, I set Registered_Client as Registered, Registered_Technician as Author and Special as Editor and above - now I still have that "Field required: Title" in error.

Also, is there a way to change all the viewing permissions on records? Right now they're all set to Registered-technician as per the old setup.

In regards to your question, the submission link is only on each category and sub-category pages, accessible via the user I gave earlier. It is my intention for each client to have access to their own list of categories, subcategories and their records.

That is strange. I have fixed it for next update.

If you have just deleted title field off the form that may happen. You cat turn off title in type parameters. I tested local and it works. Then I updated your site with latest Cobalt and now it works. Please, note we release new build every Thursday.

Some suggestions. YOu can make Time In and Out selects with 00:30, 01:00, 00:30, ... That would be much easier to input.

When you edit record as super in special fields group you wil find access field.

Then set Who can see special. In this case only special users (+ authors of the records) will be able to see the records. It is like support ticket setup. users see only their own records and do not see records of others.

Each of them needs to only see the recordings belonging to their categories and subcategories - as entered by the technicians users. Any idea how I could do that?

Since users will see only their own records that does not matter which category and so on. If they have record they if not they do not.

only the case is really that the technicians make the submissions and the clients need to be informed of them and be able to see them.

Ohh! Here it is :) So submissions are made not by users but by technicians. I think that technician have to set user as author. This is the only way I can think of now.

Technicians ARE set as authors :) "Registered Users" (clients) should only see the entries corresponding to some categories (those which they have access to).

Should I create individual viewing groups for each registered user (each client)? Would that work?

May be you can create different types? How many are there categories or client groups?

So please tell me again why technicians cannot set clients the authors of the articles?

It's supposed to be as simple as possible on the form. Can I edit the submission form so that it takes the value from a database entry or something?
