Hello:

I was curious as to how I could add a record to both a "Section" and a "Category"?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Hello Michael, you can allow submission to section-root in your Type parameters:

type_submission_params_sectionroot

There are also related parameters in your Section -> General Parameters tab
For section home, you have 3 display options to show records: none, any or root records only

section_home_show_nothing_all_or_root_only

Feature-Bug ?

There seems to be a "bug", if you have a visible Category selection AND section root.

  • Enter a new record with section only.
You can edit and re-save the article, and the section is still selected. Works.

  • Select the section-root name AND categories, the selection is saved, too.
But if you edit the same record again, the section root name is de-selected.
If overlooked, the record would be saved without this section information :(

Guest ...add a record to both a "Section" and a "Category"?

What is the purpose of the Section root submission?
Do you want to list and show all records of the whole section?

IMHO, if you have a visible Categories selection, you should turn the section-root display in yourType to OFF. See screenshots in my previous comment. Use Section Home display parameter Show ANY record in the section.
Then you won't need the explicit submission to the root.
