the default image option is very useful, but it may be boring to see always the same image when users usually don't upload their own images,

so with this improvement it would be possible to randomly rotate the default image from a chosen folder

useful for:

have same image/icon but with different background/color

have different images but on the same theme/topic

have different completely images

and so on...

Ima ge can only attach one picture. then it shows only one picture. But if you use gallery where you upload a lot of pictures, then you can set random when it is displayed in the list.

yes, I understand that, but I was talking about the "default" image option (the image displaied when the user does not uplaod any image)

Funny idea… but is this really a "default"!?

The term and the function of a default image is a static placeholder, IMHO.

maybe yes... but the fact is that on big portals often users don't have time/will to uplaod an image, so you end up having always the same placeholder, which is not very good looking

with a feature like this you could rotate different placeholders, or have the same one but with difefrent colors (think for example about wordpress custom random avatars, you may have seen them around)

I think you can manage placeholder image in custom field template.
