I discovered the like_search filter template for use with a text field - exactly what I needed. When using the filter, three options are available:

start with

end with

contains

It seems that no matter what I select, they all behave the same as "start with".

Also, when you define the filter and apply it, the filter shows up with a number rather than the text "starts with", etc. For example, if I specify the filter text to be "Africa" and the option to be "ends with", when I apply the filter it should show up as "starts with Africa". Instead it shows up as "2, Africa".

Is there anything I'm doing wrong or is this just an issue to be fixed? I'm currently using v8.470.

I cannot find where are those parameters?

Create a field with Type set to Text. In the upper right corner, there is a section labeled "Field Parameters". Right below that is a section labeled "Filtering - General". One of the filter templates that are available is "like_search.php". I set "Enable Filter" to yes and then look at the advanced filters in the front-end. The filter is added and there is a dropdown with three options - "Start with (text)", "End with (text)", and "Contain (text)". It's a great feature but I think all three options are behaving the same.

Oh! I see. Looks like you either updated from Cobalt 7 or accidentally installed text field of Cobalt 7. In Cobalt 8 there is no "like search". You can make field searchable and it will be possible to search in that field in main search text input.

You are correct, I did update from Cobalt 7 quite a while ago. What should I do to fix my Cobalt 8 installation for this field type?

Nothing have to be done. Just do not user like search template. It is not implemented in this field.
