Search box for only 1 category?

I know with the Filter module I can make a simple search bar. How can I make it so that the Search only works for 1 category?

Background info: I am using Cobalt for a large scale directory at a university. We have different site sections and if you are in Department A section of site I want to be able to search only for employees of Department A. Is this possible?

Is Department A a section? Or is it a category of a Cobalt section?

Department is a category of the Directory section.

There is Filter mode parameter in section parameters. Use like in records mode and in records mode set category and its subcategory.
