Category Selector has disappeared - Cobalt 8

I no longer have a category selector on the Add New Record form

I'm sure it was there before - but now has disappeared

where has it gone?

Section has categories, and categories have records (altho these are all imports from my scripts ) ... hmmm perms issue maybe?

or more likely - have I turned it off with some config change?

thanks if you can tell me how to get it back !

But its fixed - altho I dont know why!

I had that setting as you suggest so I dont think it was that.

I went round and round config options last night til spinning :)

so this morning I opened and saved a category,

and logged my test user in and out

then it worked.

So one of those two things did it. (note to self: when testing test one thing at a time!)

I have a feeling it may be some issue with my category import script. Maybe I saved one category which rebuilds entire index thereby fixing some glitch from import (perhaps, maybe?)

who knows? it works now.
