Hi,

after reading the search issues raised by Sackgesicht, I also would like to see the advanced search activated. It would be nice if I could filter by: open, closed, announcement, etc.

Thanks, Jeff

I am not sure about that. That does not sounds like things needed. I want to keep everything simple.

Agree with Jeff, and I already mentioned similar features in the initial forum announcement. Forgot to create a separate topic. Also had to play a while with the new forum to recognize my own behavior to work with it.

I think, it is important to "filter" the lists. For sure the priority lies on "category", "followed", "notifications". But this is not enough, IMHO. There are too many topics that distract the eye... it is still hard to fly over the list and get a quick overview. Something that was different and somewhat "quicker" on AngelDesk. (maybe not better, but slightly different)

Suggestion

I would suggest to have filters for both status fields. BTW, the new topic submission is a good example from another viewpoint. There it feels like a 3-level categorization. Easy and simple for the user. This should be exposed on the list view, too. I think the topic type is equal in regards of importance. Most likely, users won't see "closed" and "bug" topics, or other types than "questions". Depends on the user (user, sitebuilder, developer etc.)

Important: How and where to show the filters, and in which style. It should be easy and simple, but not distracting the eye. It should not overload the clean forum appearance (i assume, this is one of your main concerns).

That is simple to say. Where do you think it should be located?

Agree.

I like the simplicity of the tabs in EasyDiscuss.

forum easydiscuss

You might do something similar under the menu bar, but with 3 select lists instead, like the ones pepperstreet mentioned.

Ooops, we totally forgot about this topic.

@Sergey
Might come in handy for the Cobalt 9 and Emerald 10 roadmap update and tracking...
You could easily filter for Ideas and Status. ;)

For that purpose, you could display adv. Search and Filters for admins only.
Or create pre-filtered links of it and respective quick menuItems for admins.

Somethign like this would be easely possible to do in template. And it is good way to demonstrate Cobalt abilities for customizations. Lets, mark it.

I was refering to enable the advanced search and display of status fields filters. Not the EasyDiscuss appearance and style ;)

Lets, mark it.

You mean "make it" ?
