geoip2.js is slowing down the site

Hi,

Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not. cobalt is using the following js file for its geo field and inclusion of this file causes the site very slow

http://js.maxmind.com/js/apis/geoip2/v2.1/geoip2.js

I had installed jch optmize pro , but I have to exclude the above file for map to work.

If I dont include the above file , theni wont have map to work but the page size significantly gets reduced to 378kb from 1.23mb

That means it is concluded that the above file causes slowdown of site.

can anyone suggest how can this file be optimized either by any means

or is there any alternative to this?

I did , but that didn't help. The page size is same at 1.23mb.

Also is it possible not to display the map , but all other things? I would love to display the map, but the map itself is taking 80% of total page size. Hence for the sake of page speed, I am thinking if it will be possible to exculde the map, but display the google ajax place search text box and distance parameter.

It would have helped if jch optimize pro could have optimize the geoip2 file which could have helped reducing the page size.

Yes, there are parameters in goe field.

It is not our file. It is 3DP service.

I dont want to show map in advanced search, but would like to show on all other places. Is it possible? This will decrease the page size considerably.

Hi Sergey,

I know this option, but with this option the whole field is blank. What I want to achieve is that: The map is consisting of the following: Distance Radius - I want this available in filter Text box - that shows to enter name of the city - which is also an ajax google search - I also want this Then the last thing is the map that is shown - I dont want this map to be shown - this is taking lots of space and increasing page size

Is it possible?

Distance search cannot work without map unfortunately. I do not see how that would technicaly be possible.
