May I ask what this means "It is not yet for production websites. "

We are running a joomla 3 website that will be receiving real cash for subscriptions and will go live soon - can we use this component safely for our subscription management?

Yes. Although it is in RC state, it is going to move to stable shortly. And some people already use it on live sites successfully.
