Issues with Quick Start instructions on Cobalt install file pkg_cobalt.j3.v.8.752 and media file pkg_mint.j3.media.v.8.91 Having read the instructions and watched the video, I had issues with these basics. Please comment. Thank you. 1. The video describes Cobalt 7, but there have been changes made to at least Joomla and Cobalt 8 (if not also PHP and the database) that mean the video is becoming out of date. 2. On completing the Quick_Start, all appears OK - see snapshot E.E_FrontEnd_Blog 3. On clicking to add a blog, errors are shown - see snapshot F.F_Add_Blog

Environment: Windows 10 desktop, using the latest version of joomla running locally on the latest version of XAMPP.

Regards, Bob B.

For captcha plugin error you must see Cobalt >> Configurations and set value for Captcha None selected, or default and then set up joomla captcha plugin to display captcha correctly.

About warning, I am not shure but think it is dedicated to editors, can you check if editors plugins are turned on and you have set in html field parameter any editor?

Hope this helps

Many thanks for reply Georgi625. You were correct on captcha - I changed the setting and the error has gone. It might be better to set this parameter to 'none' in the default configuration for future releases of Cobalt?

As for the count() error, the editors appear to be enabled correctly as far as I can tell. The blog field has got the field type correctly set to 'html'. Blog operation apperas to be successful in that I am able to add posts, however I continue to get the error on the front page.

A search on the internet shows several errors occuring in different user applications that might implicate php. Looking at changelog of php updates, there have been changes to the count() function which might be related?

Unless there are any better suggestions I will probably try to update php to v7.2.2 when it becomes available in x64.

regards, Bob

Guest Unless there are any better suggestions I will probably try to update php to v7.2.2 when it becomes available in x64.

Most likely an incompatibility with PHP >= 7.2.x
I have had other extensions with similar errors.

For now, I would recommend to downgrade your PHP version to 7.0.x or 7.1.x
XAMPP seem to come with the latest-and-greatest, this is not always the save route ;)

Hope this helps.

Thank you pepperstreet. For info, I was on php version 7.1.4 when I first tried Cobalt 8, and have just upgraded to version 7.2.2 to see if it made any difference, but no, still getting the same error.

However, although the error printout looks bad on the page, it does not appear to be impacting on the functionality.

I'm reluctant to downgrade php to version 7.0 at present (it takes so long to do that via deleting and re-installing XAMPP and Joomla packages), but I would be interetested to hear from others. Is it something peculiar to the quickstart instructions, or perhaps everyone here is so advanced that they never tried it?

Regards, Bob

I am not using xampp but my hosting provider allows me to change php version from cpanel easily and I was able to run Joomla site with Cobalt only on PHP 7.0, on newer PHP versions pages does not load correctly.
