textarea: no "readmore" available in list view?

Hello,

I am not able to generate the "readmore" button for a textarea field in the list view

in field settings a see a parameter to display custom text where the text is beig truncated, but that doesn't generate a readmore link or button

in my list template I set "yes" to "display readmore label

but still no readmore button is being generated
