For local videos I am not sure how to do it.

Why video field don't extract video thumbnails automatically for local self-uploaded videos ?

I use JW Player. Is it possible to create thumbnails with this solution ?

This is very complicated task. And there is not universal solution that would work on any server. FFMPEG works differently on different servers. Unfortunately I do тещ see any clear way to implement such a feature. Also I do not see any reason one would host videos on the same server with site.

Thanks for the answer. Is it possible to create video field to which I can add manually thumbnail to JW Player's video ?

JW Player created before thumbnail for self-uploaded videos. My developeer customoze also Player button for them. But they suddenly disappeared. Only update which has been done is Joomla update.

I do not know. If JW supplpies API parameter to indicate thumbnail image, then I think it is possible to add this functionality in components/com_cobalt/fields/video/video.php starting from line 109.

What about youtube videos? I am not good enough in php so was not able to edit video field template so I simply created template for text field which is explained here
