there you can join the translation team and translate it by yourself using the transifex interface, which is really helpful.

Or you cna just translate locallyt the language .ini file

If you need french language only for the purchase process (your clients) and not for the admin interface, then there are just a few lines of text to be translated, I was able to do it in half an hour, but unfortunately the lines for the purchase/invoice process and those for the administration interface are all stored int he same file, so you will have to guess which ones you have to translate, and which others not, I did it, so it's not really difficult.

I did not configure email alerts yet. Only notifications on the site in My Account/Notifications.

I also created and updated French language for Emerald. The file you have translated is in fact 50% of translation.
