Everytime a user subscribes, they are automatically subscribed to all plans... is this a bug or am i doing something wrong?

More details. please. We don't know your setup and configuration! Please, make screenshots or describe your plans and parameters.

Did you activate some of these plan options?

Or did you select any CROSS plans that are granted automatically?

Grant to NEW and OLD users is not made for the regular subscription workflow. Turn them OFF, for the beginning. As far as I know, the meaning and purpose is as follows:

Grant to NEW users:

This plan is AUTOMATICALLY assigned. No manual subscription needed.

(mostly suitable for a FREE or basic LIFETIME plan, or hidden plans)

Grant to OLD users:

This plan is assigned to ALREADY REGISTERED users on your site.

(might be the case, if you already had a lot of older users, and you added and changed plans AFTER they registered!)

Both options are special. If you start a new site with simple memberships, you might not need to activate them.

not getting email alerts when users subscribe.

Could be related to the parameter "grant to NEW/OLD". Because this would create mass-emails in one go... Please, try again with correct settings and a regular test user and manual subscription in frontend!

I have unticked the 'grant new/old' option and i dont get multiple subscriptions but still dont get the admin alerts when a new user subscribes.

Any other option?

Yes, i inadvertently set one of the cross plans and cannot untick the selection
