When two or more templates, how to setup default section template?

Section gives multiple select on list templates and possibility for user to switch template.

How is the default template decided - alphabetically? Can I change default template?

Yes, the parameter is also found in Section's parameters.
Just enter the correct name of one of your selected templates.

General Parameters -> Templates -> Default list template

BTW, the name sorting in template switcher is found in your markup layout.
It can be "alphabetical" or "as is".

General Parameters -> Templates -> Markup layout -> click edit button...
Tab Section Menu -> Menu Elements -> Sort templates (do not sort/by name)
